New Year's resolutions that makes a difference
Don't let New Year's resolutions go to waste the coming year. Start the new decade by setting yourself some simple but environmentally friendly goals that can help both you, those around you, as well as the environment.
What better way to start the new year, than by cleaning out old crap, getting more order at home and at the same time perhaps helping someone else?
We have tips for some small and achievable goals you can set yourself up for 2020-that can help both you and the environment:
1. Always think twice before you buy something new
Whether it's new summer clothes, mountain shoes or a mobile phone-ask yourself if it's something you need or if it's just something you want. If you find that you actually need it, there are always great chances that you can find it used on websites such as Find or Tise for a much cheaper money. How to save the environment for harmful contamination during production and take part in an important and increasing re-use trend!
2. Sort waste and recycle!
If you are not already sorting your waste, it is about time to start now. And it is not as difficult as many have the perception that it is - start by separating plastic, cardboard and general waste, and the most is already done. It will feel good to be able to contribute to society and a greener everyday.
It can also be a cool New Year's resolution to clean up old things and see how this can also be recycled. Clean up your apartment or house and get more space to live on - while you can find a new owner for what you no longer need. We have good tips on just how you can sort.
3. Give away or share things you don't use very often
We can't say it often enough, but what about giving away or sharing things you don't use every day? When you clear your stuff in the clutter room, in your booth or in your closet, you can make a decision about whether you actually need it. Give away, share or sell what you no longer need or do not have room for, and start 2020 with more order in life.
4. Select Green to save the
If you need between storage during the move, a place to store the equipment you share with friends or simply room for things that don't fit in your new apartment, then you have the choice of which inventory solution to choose.
2020 may be the year you are trying to choose the green option as often as possible, and this may apply even when it comes to stock. Flexistore has a thorough sustainability strategy and is working hard to always take the greenest choices.
5. Take responsibility instead of taking part in environmental
Whether it is to eat a little less meat, fly a little less or start taking more public transport, then help all small measures! While we may be good at recycling, we are one of the environmentalists when it comes to lifestyle and consumption. If all of the earth were to be living as the average person in Norway then we had needed more than 3 Earths!
2020 can therefore be the year we collectively take responsibility for how we live. This means having a more conscious relationship with how much electricity we spend, how much we fly and how much meat we eat. We can become more aware of what raw materials and products we purchase and how they may have been transported across oceans and continents.
A simple way to measure your own consumption is through the site Ducky. Here you can measure your own CO2 footprint, and you can influence others around you by getting the whole job to sign up or challenge other individuals and businesses. Together, we can make a difference and reduce consumption in one of the richest countries in the world.
Flexistore's New Year's resolutions
We at Flexistore have in the context of our sustainability strategy Vision 2021 also set some New Year's resolutions for the coming decade. The 3 largest and perhaps most important are:
- Cut down our carbon footprint with fewer international travels
- Try to use more recyclable or new material when working on our future projects
- Putting even greater focus on sharing economy and continuing to encourage our customers to share their stuff with the digital keys of the storage unit
Let us make 2020 the year where we as individuals and companies take responsibility for our own consumption and carbon footprint with some simple and thoughtful measures, or New Year's resolutions!
